Neosho Man Charged w/ 2nd Degree Murder

Aron Wayne Hund of Neosho has been formally charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action by the Newton County Prosecutors office. He is currently being held at the Newton County Sheriff’s Department on a $ 100,000 cash only bond.

On September 4th around 03:08 hours, the Neosho Police Department responded to the 800 block of Business 49 highway regarding a death investigation. Once on scene, Officer’s found Mark Shellenberger deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. An autopsy was later performed at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Through investigation Neosho Police detectives developed probable cause to believe that a 32 year old white male from Neosho shot Mr. Shellenberger, resulting in his death on September 4th.

The suspect was taken into custody on September 7, 2016 and a Probable Cause Affidavit has been filed with the Newton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.

No motive has been determined at this time, this investigation is still ongoing.
