Joplin city officials do a walk-through of Joe Becker Stadium to see if money will be needed to fix equipment in the multi-million dollar facility. Today's inspection was done after Joplin's Blasters baseball team failed to pay this month's rent.
City workers looked at kitchens, bathrooms, dugouts, and sky boxes. City workers tell us they are only seeing normal "wear and tear" on equipment and property right now.
City officials say they have yet to receive formal notifications that the Blasters won't be back next year. But the Blasters have donated souvenirs to the DAV thrift store on Seventh Street. These items include kids-sized baseballs and kids-sized baseball bats.
We have left a message with the Blasters' attorney, Steven Hays in Joplin. He has not returned our phone call.
