The Missouri Moves Program, used to aid areas in transportation improvements, was completely cut Wednesday. Something MODOT's Southwest District Engineer Becky Baltz confirmed during a conference call.
"Unfortunately we're not going to be able to move forward with the program since the funding was restricted."
There were more than 100 application requests throughout the state of Missouri asking for more than 70 million dollars.
"It's a shame they cut them because the bridges and roads won't be getting fixed and the roads are bad enough as they are. It's something i would think is a big liability to the whole community," says Joplin resident John Swager.
But Baltz believes there was a silver lining to the brief program, especially in the Joplin area.
"Even though we're not going to be able to move forward with this program right now. It did definitely show there's a big need out there for transportation improvements."
