On 12-19-16 Deputy Andrew Snider while on patrol observed a vehicle run a stop sign. He attempted to stop the car on Jefferson Street in Neosho. When he first initiated the car stop the vehicle fled south bound. Shortly after that the passenger leaned out of the vehicle and began firing a gun at Deputy Snider. Multiple shots were fired but none struck the Patrol car. At the intersection of Jefferson and North streets the suspect vehicle went off the road into a yard. At that time 2 male subjects fled from the vehicle running in different directions. Within 20 minutes with the help of the Neosho Police Department both suspects were taken into custody. Two handguns as well as methamphetamines were recovered from the car. One of the guns was stolen in Newton County.

The two people arrested were as follows:

  • Joel A. Bell- w/m 29 YOA from Carthage Mo.
