USD 250 Special Question Election on March 14, 2017

The Crawford County Clerk’s Office wants to be sure voters know that the USD 250 Board of Education has requested that a Special Question Election be held in the school district on March 14, 2017. This will be a traditional election with 5 polling places being open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Election Day. There are also early voting opportunities available in person and by mail that can make it more convenient for people to vote.

Information on the Special Question to be voted on and details regarding the proposal can be found on the USD 250 website at www.usd250.org. You can also call the USD 250 District Office at 620-235-3100 for more information.

Advance voting will begin on February 22, 2017. Advance ballots will start being mailed out on February 22, 2017, and that will continue until March 10, 2017. Anyone living in USD 250 that has signed up for Permanent Advance Voting Status will automatically have a ballot mailed to them on February 22. If you want to have a ballot mailed to you, please contact our office at 620-724-6115 or obtain an advance ballot application from our website at crawfordcountykansas.org . Please go to the Elections Department page and find the “Get an Advance Ballot” link in the Voter Tools section. Advance voting in person will be available in the office of the County Clerk in the Crawford County Courthouse in Girard from February 22 until March 13 at noon.

Advance voting in person will be available at the Meadowbrook Mall in Pittsburg on Friday March 10 and Saturday March 11 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. We hope that many voters will take advantage of these early voting opportunities.

The voter registration rolls for this election will close on February 21, 2017, as required by state law. Only voters registered in USD 250 are allowed to vote in this special election. Anyone that has moved, had their name changed or needs to make other changes to their voter registration information should contact the office of the Crawford County Clerk at 620-724-6115.

If you wish to check your voter registration information, please visit the website “voteks.org”. Just click on the link for “What is my registration status, polling place, and ballot?”. You can also call the office of Crawford County Clerk Don Pyle at 620-724-6115 during regular business hours for assistance.

Important Dates for the USD 250 Special Question Election:

  • February 21, 2017 - Last Day to Register to Vote or to Update Voter Registration Prior To Election.
  • February 22, 2017 - Begin Mailing of Advance Ballots and Advance Voting in Person at Crawford County Clerk’s Office in Girard.
  • March 10 & 11, 2017 - Advance Voting in Person at Meadowbrook Mall in Pittsburg from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM both days.
  • March 10, 2017 - Last day to mail out Advance Ballots by mail.
  • March 13, 2017, at Noon - Advance Voting in Person at County Clerk’s Office in Girard comes to an end.
  • March 14, 2017 - Election Day with Polls Open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the following locations:
  1. Church of Christ Congregation Hall at 802 E. Centennial in Pittsburg
  2. Countryside Christian Church Hall at 1901 E. 4th St. in Pittsburg
  3. Pittsburg Public Utilities Annex at 1501 N. Walnut St. in Pittsburg
  4. St. John’s Lutheran Church Hall at 304 W. 3rd St. in Pittsburg
  5. Baker Township West Fire Station at 810 S. 200th St. West of Pittsburg
