Kids' Rummage Sale Teaches Business Strategies Early

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

Kids learn about business and selling today at a garage sale in Joplin that puts them in the vendor seat.
More than fifteen youths set up shop with tables at Joplin's memorial hall for the annual kids' garage sale. Hosted by the Parks and Recreation department, it's an opportunity for youngsters to learn about sales, marketing,  merchandise and money.

Lauren Stadler helped her four year old son who operated his own table. She said,  "His plan is to save his money up in his savings account for his first car, So that's what he's here doing today."

While another seller, eleven year old Justice Stiffler said,  " One, it's a lot of stuff in my room, and two, I wanna gecko, because I'm very interested in them and they're hilarious."

The only problem for some of the kids was being  tempted to use their profits to buy what other kids were selling.
