Fredonia Man Arrested For 1st Degree Murder

FREDONIA, KANSAS -

6/8 5:51 PM:  The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Fredonia Police Department arrested a Fredonia man for his alleged involvement in a Thursday morning homicide.

At approximately 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, the KBI was asked by the Fredonia Police Department to assist in investigating a suspected homicide.

The initial investigation indicates 50-year-old Eddie Cohee was murdered at his residence at 613 Jackson St. in Fredonia sometime Thursday morning. Officers from the Fredonia Police Department arrived at the residence at approximately 9:30 a.m. to perform a welfare check and found Cohee deceased. Authorities believe Cohee suffered from blunt force trauma. The autopsy is currently pending.

Sean Cohee, age 25, of Fredonia, was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail at approximately 11 a.m. for first degree murder. He is the victim’s son.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Nothing further will be released at this time.

Kansas Bureau of Investigation is looking into a death investigation in Fredonia, KS.  KBI Public Information Official tells KOAM/FOX14 the agency was called around 10 a.m. this morning to assist with a death investigation.  We have a crew heading to the area and hope to have more details soon.

    The Cherokee Township, Weir, and Galena Fire Departments fought a vehicle fire today (May 25) around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 69 near Highway 103. According to authorities a truck was heading south on 69 Highway when the vehicle started smoking. The truck was then completely engulfed by flames. The driver managed to escape the vehicle without any serious injury. Crews had the fire put out by 8:00 p.m. No word yet on what caused the truck to catch on fire.More >>
