DOG ABUSE

  • The Webb City Police Department is investigating what led to a dog being poisoned.  It started Tuesday night when a Webb City couple returned home and found their dog lethargic and unwilling to eat.  He was ultimately taken to a vet who determined he had ingested something poisonous.  The couple then contacted police to attempt to find out what happened.  The owners later took the dog to the Joplin Humane Society.  Anyone with information is being asked to call the Webb City Police Department.

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

  • A Joplin man is recovering after police say he was shot in the face by an acquaintance.   Police say there was an altercation shortly after 10pm Tuesday night.  Investigators say the victim was found later that same night, and police say they arrested suspect --Joseph Pryor of Joplin at the Sunrise Inn.  Pryor has been charged in Newton County with possession of meth and as a felon in possession of a firearm.  The Jasper County Prosecutor has also filed charges of assault, unlawful use of a weapon, attempted robbery, armed criminal action, and a felon in possession of a firearm.

SCHEDULING GLITCH

  • American Airlines is scrambling to find pilots for thousands of flights over the busy holiday season.  A software glitch in the airline's scheduling system allowed too many of its pilots to take vacation during that time. American says it plans to use reserve crews to fill some of the void.
