Local Church Sells Sweets For Outreach

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

The St. Philip's Episcopal Church sold some sweet stocking stuffers today. It was the annual St. Catherine's Cookie and Candy Sale. For anywhere between $5 to $20, customers were able to purchase a tin container which they were allowed to fill up with as much goodies as they could. The proceeds go to the St Catherine's programs such as outreach -- which does a variety community service projects for people in need.

Church member Debi Sierra says, "Jesus calls us to take care of the poor and needy so i think that's part of it. But a lot of it is just we care. We care about people in the community, and I think our faith is a big part of that."

This was the fifth year for the cookie and candy sale.
