ELDER ABUSE INVESTIGATION

  • Joplin Police investigate an allegation of elder abuse. This home is where some residents of Skills Unlimited live.  Skills offers clinical and rehabilitative services for people with disabilities.
    Police are not releasing the nature of this alleged abuse, or how many people are involved in this allegation.  Police have not made an arrest in the case.

MIAMI RENOVATION

  • A $2.2 Million dollar renovation is underway in Miami, Oklahoma.  The civic center, which homes city hall, has seen its share of wear and tear.  Renovations underway include re-roofing, improving security, installing new HVAC systems and improving the layout.  Funding for the project comes from the city's rainy day fund.  Renovations are expected to be finished by the end of February.

MEXICO BUS CRASH

  • Investigators in Mexico are looking at speeding as the possible cause of a deadly tourist bus crash.  12 people were killed, including eight Americans.  All were passengers from a pair of Royal Caribbean cruise ships.  The crash happened during a day trip to visit Mayan Ruins.

AMTRAK INVESTIGATION

  • The cleanup continues at the site of Monday's Amtrak derailment.  Yesterday, crews hauled away one of the train's two locomotives.  Three people were killed when the trains left the tracks and tumbled onto a highway.  Investigators say the train was traveling 80 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour zone.
