Wash The Salt Off Your Car Before It Becomes A Hazard

Updated:

Road crews will likely be putting down another round of salt on area roads in advance of our next potential storm system...
But that salt can be harmful, even dangerous, for your car.
That's why officials at In And Out Car Wash in Joplin say it's important to wash your car as soon as possible after it gets coated in salt.
Not only can it damage the paint on your car, it can cause rust on the under carriage, and even rust on important car components.

In And Out Site Manager April Shannon says "Whether you notice it or not, it might take, it'll get up in the crevices, so you're not going to notice it in the cracks like where the trims are and start to eat that paint away and eat at the metal, that's when you'll start noticing the rust coming out from the cracks at the very bottom of the car."

Shannon says it's still a good idea to wash your car at least once a week to ensure nothing builds up in your under carriage.
