Officials say the fire is out at a drilling rig that exploded in eastern Oklahoma Monday, but five rig workers were still missing late Monday evening.
A statement from McAlester-Pittsburg County Emergency Management said Monday night fire crews remain at the scene in case the rig reignites. No access is allowed to the rig.
The explosion occurred west of the town of Quinton, about 100 miles southeast of Tulsa.
Houston-based Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. has been operating the well for Oklahoma City-based Red Mountain Operating. The company said the cause of the fire remains unknown.
