DEADLY FIRE UPDATE

  • A preliminary investigation finds no evidence of foul play in the death of a Joplin woman.  Firefighters were called out to this fire early Monday morning.  A man told crews his wife Tamra Greenwell was still inside.  Firefighters got Greenwell out of the home.  The preliminary autopsy shows she later died of smoke inhalation.

WEBB CITY FLU

  • Local school districts are keeping a close eye on attendance rates during the flu epidemic, and doing what they can to keep the germs away.  The Webb City superintendent says this week's student attendance is six percent lower than at this time last year.  School districts can receive less state funding if there's an especially low student attendance rate.

REPUBLICAN RETREAT

  • President Trump travels to West Virginia today, to address republican lawmakers at their annual policy retreat.  Some of them traveled to the event in the Amtrak train that collided with a garbage truck in Crozet, Virginia Wednesday.  Officials with the National Transportation Safety board are now on the scene trying to determine what led to the deadly crash.
