Southern Men #9 in First Regional Rankings

RELEASE FROM MISSOURI SOUTHERN ATHLETICS:

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Missouri Southern men's basketball team, riding a four-game winning streak, checks in at No. 9 in the first installment of the NCAA Division II Central Region Poll. 

The poll will be released every Wednesday for the final three weeks of the season. The top eight teams will make the NCAA Division II Tournament. 

Northwest Missouri is the top team in the poll and Central Missouri, Washburn and Central Oklahoma all represent the MIAA in the first poll. The complete rankings are listed below.

    According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday (April 18), deputies were called to 10125 County Lane 273 in Carl Junction. Deputies spoke with two women who were trying to get their dog from their neighbors yard. The women were in the 71-year-old's driveway when the man came out with a pistol threatening to shoot them for trespassing.     A Southeast Kansas man is free on bond following a shooting in rural Galena Thursday afternoon.  According to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to residence for woman being shot.  The shooting happened after a verbal argument with a 28 year old male.  Before deputies arrived to the scene the female was taken to a Joplin hospital where she was treat for non-life threatening injuries.

    BARD NOT RESIGNING A day after submitting his resignation, newly elected Joplin City Council member Joshua Bard has changed his mind.  Missouri state law states felons are not eligible to be *candidates* for a local or state office.  Joshua Bard pleaded guilty to manufacturing methamphetamine in Newton County in 2005.  Bard says after he talked with Joplin's city attorney, he initially decided the best decision was to submit his resignation from the city council.&nbs...More >>
