Joplin Beats Hillcrest in Ozark Finale

The Joplin Eagles played their final home game of the season, and final game in the Ozark Conference on Thursday, beating Hillcrest 76-69. Evan Guillory led the way with 27 points for Joplin. Braeden Testerman added 15, while Zach Westmoreland finished the night with 14.

    The Joplin Fire Department was called to a semi truck on fire at 32nd and S. Range Line around 11:48 a.m. on October 16th, 2018. According to Fire Chief James Furgerson, the driver saw flames shooting out of the compartment area. Fire fighters extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes. Chief Furgerson says the cause of the fire was mechanical and the truck was not hauling any hazardous materials. Traffic was interrupted for about 30 minutes.

    Thomas Mourning II of Joplin is found "incompetent" to stand trial at this time. Court documents state he injured multiple people and two comfort dogs in a 2016 shooting spree. Joplin Police say Mourning II fired two shots at the home he shared with his father on South Connecticut Street. They were the only two home.
