Pittsburg J.C. Penney Receives Company's Highest Distinction

The J.C. Penney Store in Pittsburg gets the company's highest distinction.

J.C. Penney Company, Inc. has more than 870 stores across the country. The company's Founder's Award is given to its top performing stores, which includes the J.C. Penney store in the Meadowbrook Mall. The award is presented to general and district managers for leading teams that deliver strong results in the areas of financial performance, customer and client service and business expertise.

The top performing stores were honored at a special ceremony at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. General Manager Dale Brame of the Pittsburg store was one of over 90 store leaders recognized for outstanding performance in 2017.

Marvin R. Ellison, chairman and chief executive officer; Joe McFarland, executive vice president and chief customer officer; and Tony Hurst, senior vice president of stores were in attendance to recognize the leaders' achievements.

"I'm proud of our dedicated associates at JCPenney in the Meadowbrook Mall who received this special recognition," said Hurst. "The Founder's Award is the Company's highest honor, recognizing top-performing leaders that significantly contribute to the success of JCPenney and provide customers with an unmatched shopping experience. We look forward to another exceptional year serving the customers in Pittsburg."

    A Joplin man who plead guilty to two separate thefts in Cherokee County received a sentence on July 10, 2018. Christopher Whitney was sentenced to 16 months in prison for stealing personal property from rural home in Galena, KS and stealing a vehicle from a home near Rive ton, KS. After the two burglaries, Jasper County Sheriff's Office deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Whitney, where they found the stolen items and a quantity of methamphetamine. Prior to the sentenc...
