Happy 107!

Updated:
NEOSHO COUNTY, KS -

Two very special Neosho County women are approaching an amazing milestone. They're both turning 107 in the coming weeks.

"I don't like to spend a whole lot of time, monkeying with birthdays," says Margaret Kinne.

But turning 107, just isn't that big a deal, for Margaret Kinne. The St. Paul, Kansas and Prairie Mission Retirement Village resident, prefers to spend her time thinking about what made her happy.

"My favorite thing, was a dog, white with black spots," said Kinne.

The good times with her dog chip, was one of the few subjects this retired music teacher and Pitt State graduate felt like talking about.

But she did have some short and sweet, words of wisdom.

"Do the best you can. Keep out of trouble," said Kinne.

Over in Chanute lives another Margaret, also about to turn 107, also a retired music teacher, and also from Neosho County. The Country Place Senior Living resident isn't slowing down all that much.

"People come here to visit and come to see you, and so you have a good social life, I think," said Margaret Hollenshead.

When it comes to life advice, her's is pretty simple, but smart.

"Everything in moderation, absolutely," said Hollenshead.

And that applies to her drink of choice, which she still enjoys to this day.

"Rum and coke! That's a good drink," said Hollenshead.

As for the past, she enjoys recalling the good times with her husband.

"Sweet guy, a good man," said Hollenshead.

And when she looks at the big picture...

"I've had a good life, I'm a happy gal," said Hollenshead.
