Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

To commemorate National Autism Awareness month, Freeman Health System and Ozark Center hosted its annual Walk for Autism, Saturday. Officials say a record 522 participants gathered at Missouri Southern State University for the mile long walk.

The goal of the event was to raise money for the Bill and Virginia Leffen Center for Autism, and spread awareness and support for those with autism. In addition to the walk, there were bounce houses, balloon animals, and a number of fun activities for kids and their families.
