Joplin Police received a call about an armed robbery on Sunday just before 10:00 p.m. (April 22, 2018). An employee at Charlie's Chicken (2020E. 32nd Street) says she locked the business up and was walking to her vehicle when a male walked up to her in the parking lot. She said he pointed a handgun at her and demanded the night deposit bag. She gave the suspect the bag and says he ran to the southwest. Police officers could not find him.

Authorities say the suspect is described as a male with a handgun wearing a dark jacket, gloves, dark colored jeans and had a "hunting mask" on his face.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 417-623-3131.

Senate bill 652 passed in the Missouri legislature. It repeals sections of an old law that prevented sheriff's departments from hiring people from neighboring states. The change could help open the  pool of applicants for area sheriff's offices. We talk to Jasper county about the impact. More >>
