NRMC Donate Life Drive - May 18

NRMC to Host Donate Life Drive

Nevada Regional Medical Center will take part in a regional awareness campaign in partnership with Midwest Transplant Network—aiming to increase the number of donors on the Kansas and Missouri organ donor registries. NRMC will host a Donate Life registration drive in the main lobby entrance of the hospital, May 18th from 1 to 5 p.m. This opportunity to become registered as an organ donor will be open to employees and the public.

According to Midwest Transplant Network, thousands of people in Missouri are waiting for lifesaving organ transplants and a single organ and tissue donor has the power to save up to 8 lives and improve up to 75 more.

Positive public opinion of organ donation hasn't translated into sufficient registrations: 95 percent of Americans are in favor of being a donor, yet only 75 percent are registered in Kansas and Missouri.

In addition to motivating individuals to join the state's donor registry, the campaign serves to educate and build awareness with the following key points:

• Anyone can be a registered donor regardless of age, race or medical history.

• A commitment to donation never interferes with medical care. Saving the donor's life is always top priority whenever someone becomes sick or injured.

Participants in the registration drive May 18th may also enjoy coming with friends and getting snapshots taken at a fun photo booth. For those unable to attend the drive, joining the donor registry is a simple process. Individuals can register online anytime at sharelifemidwest.com or at the DMV when obtaining or renewing a driver's license

or ID card.

"Imagine the impact we can make if each and every one of us joins the registry and spreads the hope-filled message across our community," says Wes Braman, Interim Chief Executive Officer at NRMC. "We hope everyone who hears about it will take this opportunity to attend the drive event or go online and become a donor."
