Salvation Army Offers Free Showers and Laundry to Help the Homeless

Updated:
Joplin, MO -

"Shower the People" is a new program at the Salvation Army offering the homeless and poor a chance to shower and do laundry there for free. Shampoo, soap, towels and laundry detergent are all supplied. Tonight we talk to several homeless people taking advantage of the service that all say transforms their attitudes and self image. Participants must make an appointment and fill out some paperwork for the grant funded program. We also will hear how that fits into the Salvation Army's mission of service.
