MSSU Women's Basketball Adds JuCo Guard

RELEASE FROM MISSOURI SOUTHERN ATHLETICS: 

JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern women's basketball coach Ronnie Ressel has announced the signing of Destiny Cozart of John A. Logan College to join the Lions next fall.
 
"Destiny can have an immediate impact on our program with her ability to score at all three levels, from the 3, mid-range and at the basket. She sees the floor like a point guard which I think is one of her strongest parts of her game, while being accustom to winning after playing for successful programs at both the JUCO level and high school level." Coach Ressel said.
 
Cozart saw action in 60 games (58 starts) during her two seasons at JALC where she averaged 15.7 points (900+) on 42-percent shooting from the field to go along with 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. The Lexington product improved significantly throughout her sophomore year and became a tough matchup with her versatility leading the Volunteers in points per game (17.2) and second in field-goal percentage (45.2) and rebounds (6.5). 
 
During her time at JALC, she earned All-Conference and All-Region honors in both years competing in the NJCAA, while being named a All-American honorable mention as well to end the 2017-18 campaign.
 
Prior to John A. Logan College, the 5'8 guard became an All-Region recipient and a KHSAA All-Academic athlete for the Bryan Station Defenders as well as participating in track and field and softball in basketball's offseason.
 
Cozart is daughter of Nekesha and David Cozart and plans on majoring in Nursing throughout her collegiate career at Missouri Southern.
 
"She is an incredible young lady that comes from a great family and we are extremely excited to have Destiny join ours as a Lion." Ressel expressed.

Ken Murphy has resigned his position as Chief of Police of the Wyandotte Nation Tribal Police Department (WNTPD) after serving in the position for nine years. Officer Faron Lee, who has served with the department for eleven years, will serve as Interim Police Chief.
