Galena Resident Dies In Two-Vehicle Crash

The Joplin Police Department worked a deadly crash at 7th and Tri State Tuesday evening (April 24).

Authorities say 58-year-old Mark Rohr, driving a Dodge Durango, was turning east from the stop sign at 7th and Tri State Road.  38-year-old Donald D. Kidwell III was driving a Kawasaki Ninja westbound on 7th street when he hit the rear driver's side of the Durango.  Kidwell was thrown from the motorcycle.

Kidwell of Galena, KS died from his injuries at Mercy Hospital.  Rohr wasn't injured in the crash.

The Joplin Police Department Major Crash Team is investigating the crash.  This is the 5th fatality crash of 2018 for the Joplin Police Department.

        The Southern Stone County, Missouri fire protection district says it and multiple agencies are working a "mass casualty event" at Table Rock Lake.     According to the district's Facebook page, crews are staging at the Branson Belle dock, but the crash did not involve the Belle.     No word yet on the number of casualties.        More >>

    A Joplin man who plead guilty to two separate thefts in Cherokee County received a sentence on July 10, 2018. Christopher Whitney was sentenced to 16 months in prison for stealing personal property from rural home in Galena, KS and stealing a vehicle from a home near Rive ton, KS. After the two burglaries, Jasper County Sheriff's Office deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Whitney, where they found the stolen items and a quantity of methamphetamine. Prior to the sentenc...
