Gorillas #4 in First Regional Rankings

RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS: 

INDIANAPOLIS — The Pittsburg State University baseball team was ranked fourth in the first set of NCAA Division II Central Region rankings released Wednesday (Apr. 25). The top eight teams in the region qualify for the NCAA Division II National Tournament following regular season and conference tournament play.

The Gorillas are 28-14 overall and 20-10 in MIAA play with six regular season games remaining on their schedule.

MIAA rival University of Central Missouri (30-12) tops the first set of Central Region rankings, followed by Augustana (S.D.) University (36-2) from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and MIAA member University of Central Oklahoma (31-16). University of Arkansas-Monticello (30-15) from the Great American Conference is fifth, followed by University of Southern Arkansas (30-16, GAC), Minnesota State University (27-10, NSIC) and St. Cloud State University (24-12, NSIC).

Pitt State is seeking the program's fifth all-time berth in the NCAA Division II and its first appearance since 2002 (1997-99, 2002).
