Muralists Paint the Town of Miami

Updated:
MIAMI, OKLAHOMA -

"The gallery is always open, 24-7, every day of the week"

This gallery is on the side of a beauty academy in Miami.

"This piece is kind of an homage to travel and adventure and all of the different types of architecture that you experience" says muralist, Kris Kanaly.

Kanaly is going to have this entire mural done in four days, from a plain white brick wall, then purple outlines, then splashes of more than a dozen of different colors.

His mural is one of five creations in the works in downtown Miami to be completed during  the second annual Mural Fest.

"For the community, to bring the community together and to kind of brighten up some of the areas that don't look so great" says one of the organizers, Teresa Karleskint.

A new piece of art to inspire young artists like Emily.

"We take walks through here quite a bit, and it adds a lot of color to the community and it just gets her creative thoughts going" says her mother, Mellisa Russell.

And maybe even help her develop  her own artistic style.

"She loves to draw, so this gets her more creative at home and she likes to take home what we see and try to draw it as well"
And eventually, the murals are going to be apart of making memories with loved ones.

"People show up and take family photos, and senior pictures and all types of selfies in front of them, it's really great to create a public free attraction for other businesses to thrive" says Kanaly.

There's a tribute to indigenous women by the city garden, the cultural district wall on the outside of shear magic, and  Kris's travel piece. With every splash of spray paint, Miami, Oklahoma becomes a more colorful place.
