MO Route E Bridge Construction - KOAM TV 7

MO Route E Bridge Construction

Beginning the week of May 7th, crews will be working on the McDonald County Route E bridge over Big Sugar Creek near Powell.

MoDOT says the existing bridge, built in 1947, is 20-feet wide and striped for single-lane traffic because of the deterioration of the structure and the resulting weight restrictions. West Plains Bridge & Grading LLC crews will replace the old bridge with a new 26-foot wide structure with two 11-foot lanes and two-foot shoulders on each side. The project will cost about $1.8 million and is expected to be complete by the beginning of September, depending on the weather or scheduling conflicts.

Drivers will not be able to cross the bridge during construction. MoDOT says signs and message boards will alert drivers to the bridge closing, but say no signed detour is planned.
