A comedic remake, a quirky tale of motherhood, and an R-rated horror flick. Three new movies try to take on those box-office super star avengers. While they probably won't even come close.... here’s what’s new in theaters this weekend.
An 80’s comedic remake with a twist hopes to make a big splash in theaters. "Overboard" stars Anna Faris. This version puts a gender swap on the Goldie Hawn-Kurt Russell original as this time it's the woman doing the ol' swicheroo on a stuck-up rich employer. “Overboard” is PG-13 and is showing in Joplin.
There's a new R-rated horror-thriller in the mix called "Bad Samaritan". It's about a valet who's plan to rob one of his customers goes very wrong as he discovers a woman held captive in the house and when he tries to save her - becomes a target himself. “Bad Samaritan” is rated R and is showing in Joplin, Pittsburg and Neosho.
"Tully" is a look at motherhood courtesy of "Juno" writer-director team Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman. The film stars Charlize Theron as a woman managing her job, her kids, and her husband who reluctantly agrees to let a nurse in to lend a hand and finally find time for herself. Unless you’re willing to travel, you won’t be able to see “Tully” this weekend as it’s not opening in any local theaters.
Here’s a look at my top five Box Office predictions:
