MSSU Volleyball Adds Transfer to Complete Recruiting Class

Updated:

RELEASE FROM MISSOURI SOUTHERN ATHLETICS:

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern volleyball coach Kalie Mader has announced another addition to the recruiting class of 2018 as Kylee Kaaihue will join the Lions this fall.

Kaaihue is no stranger to Mader as the two helped power the offense at Blinn College the last two seasons. A two-time All-Conference pick at Blinn, Kaaihue was the 2017 Region XIV South Setter of the Year. The 5-10 Honolulu, Hawaii native averaged 5.15 assists per set, while also posting a 1.66 digs per set average last year, helping the Buccaneers to a 24-9 record.

As a freshman, Kaaihue played in 30 matches with 546 assists and 14 services aces, while posting a .282 attack average.

Kaaihue prepped at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu where she played for coach Puna Velasco. A two-time OIA selection, she played for the Spike and Serve club team.

The daughter of Johnathan and Tanya Kaaihue, Kylee is a psychology major at Southern.

"We are excited about adding Kylee to our 2018 roster," Mader said. "She brings experience and is the complete package as a student and an athlete. She was an excellent student-athlete for me at Blinn College and I am excited that MSSU had the academic piece of the puzzle Kylee needed."

"I am super excited to be a part of this team and I have a good feeling about this upcoming season," Kaaihue said.
