Home Depot Holds Disaster Preparedness Clinic

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

Home Depot, a business  destroyed by the 2011 Joplin tornado, helped local residents understand the dangers of spring storm season.
The store hosted a disaster preparedness clinic.  The Jasper county sheriff along with local firefighters and medical helicopter crews took part in question and answer sessions about reacting to disasters and how to be storm ready.
The event was a partnership with the Survive-a-storm  shelters.

Store manager Jerry James said, "Home Depot just likes to have the awareness there that we can help them with tornado shelters. We can help them with preparedness kits, anything to get them through a disaster that might happen in the community. We just try to make them more aware and get them more prepared for it. Hopefully it never happens again but if it does Home Depot's here to try to help them with that situation."

There were also hands-on activities for kids on disaster readiness.

This was the first time for the readiness event but it could be annual event.
