Oswego Honors a Local Legend

Updated:
OSWEGO, KANSAS -

A local legend is being honored in Oswego, Kansas.

The city dedicated three new signs to the late Ted Watts today. Watts was a renowned sports artist who, among his many accomplishments, was famous for painting seventy seven Heisman trophy winners, and designing the "welcome" sign for Oswego.

He was born in Anthony Kansas, but was proud to call Oswego his home town.

Ted Watts' wife Faye says she knows her husband would be full of pride if he could see the signs that are honoring his life.

She says, "We are so proud of Ted, and what he meant not only to us but to the city of Oswego. And I know Ted is looking down today and smiling, and he is full of pride and very humbled right now."

Watts lived in Oswego from January 1966 until he died in November 2015.
