Movies In The Park "The Sandlot" - May 19

Movies in the Park Kicks off on May 19th at Joe Becker Stadium

Joplin, MO (5/15/2018) – Joplin Parks and Recreation, the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Frank Fletcher Toyota are excited to announce the kickoff for the 2018 Movies in the Park series.

Everyone is welcome to come out to Joe Becker Stadium and enjoy the classic movie "The Sandlot" under the stars on an inflatable movie screen on Saturday, May 19th at approximately 8:30pm. The movie is rated PG with a run time of 1 hour, 41 minutes. The event is completely free to attend. Popcorn, soda, and candy will be available for purchase on-site.

Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Frank Fletcher Toyota, movies will be shown throughout the summer and fall. The full movie lineup can be found at www.joplinmo.org/movies.

    Joplin Man Sentenced For Cherokee County Thefts

    A Joplin man who plead guilty to two separate thefts in Cherokee County received a sentence on July 10, 2018. Christopher Whitney was sentenced to 16 months in prison for stealing personal property from rural home in Galena, KS and stealing a vehicle from a home near Rive ton, KS. After the two burglaries, Jasper County Sheriff's Office deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Whitney, where they found the stolen items and a quantity of methamphetamine. Prior to the sentenc...
