Joplin Humane Society Free Pitbull Spay/Neuter - May-August

Updated:

Joplin Humane Society is excited to have been given the opportunity to offer free spay/neuter for pitbulls and pitbull mixes starting immediately and running through August. The shelter will be able to provide this amazing service thanks to the generosity of a sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous.

"We are beyond thrilled to be able to offer the free surgeries to people," said Lysa Boston, Shelter Manager.

According to Boston, the shelter takes in more homeless pitbulls than any other types of dogs. "It's so sad to see so many of them come in…once they were someone's brand new puppy and now they are the casualties of things like their owner's moving or change in lifestyle and find themselves homeless." Joplin Humane Society has taken in more than 140 pitbulls since January 1st.

The surgery will be provided free of charge to owners of pitbulls or pitbull mixes, but there will be the following requirements to participate:

1. The dog must be current on rabies vaccines of one will be given at a cost of $10.

2. The dog must be current on distemper vaccines or one will be given at a cost of $10

3. All dogs participating in this clinic are required to microchipped. This service will be offered at a discounted price of $8.

If you dog is current on vaccines and/or is microchipped you will just need to bring proof and there will be no charges at all for you pet.

For more information or to schedule an appointment for your pitbull or pitbull mix to be spayed or neutered, please call 417-623-3642 x 100.
