MISSOURI TREATMENT BILL

  • Missouri lawmakers approve a bill that will direct more people toward treatment programs, instead of prison.  The bill creates a pilot program in three counties to treat people struggling with addiction who might otherwise be incarcerated.  The senate had previously passed the bill.

JOPLN AMNESTY DAY

  • The Joplin Municipal Court is looking to work with residents who might have missed a court date or failed to pay a ticket.  An amnesty day will take place at the court house on 303 East Third Street this Friday from 9:30am until 3:30pm.  The amnesty is intended to allow anyone who has an outstanding warrant to show up for court on Friday without fear of facing the consequences.

ILLINOIS SRO STORY

  • An Illinois school resource officer is being called a hero after preventing what would have been a mass shooting.  Mark Dallas, who was assigned to Dixon High School, confronted and injured the armed teenager yesterday.  The 19-year old suspect is in police custody.

ABUSE COMPENSATION

  • Michigan State University has agreed to compensate survivors of Larry Nassar's abuse.  The school will pay $500-Million to more than 300 women and girls abused by the former MSU and USA gymnastics sports doctor.  Nassar will spend his life in prison...for sexually abusing young athletes in his care.
