Black Bear Sightings, Now In Crawford County, KS

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office sends out a message to residents after recent sightings of black bears in Crawford County and neighboring counties and states.

Sheriff Dan Peak says the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) thinks these sightings are likely to increase. While he says the Sheriff's Office will continue to respond to such sightings and report them to the KDWPT, they want to make the public aware that there will be no action taken because of a sighting unless the bear poses a serious threat to public safety or property.

If you have questions, contact the Crawford County Sheriff's Office at 620-724-8274.
