Latest: 5th Street Redevelopment in Pittsburg

Updated:

The City of Pittsburg is debating on the future of an empty lot on 5th Street.

On advice from the city's Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Pittsburg City Commission voted to utilize the city's Revolving Loan Fund to either stabilize or demolish two dilapidated structures. One is located at 113 West 5th Street and the other is at 716 North Broadway.  Read more here.

Following the demolition of the 113 West 5th Street location, the City decided to open up a competitive process allowing businesses to submit their ideas for the future use of the property.  City officials say they have received two letters of intent from interested businesses.  Those proposals were given to the Downtown Advisory Board to review and provide a formal recommendation to the City Commission.

The DAB recommended the proposal from Rise Redevelopment, LLC., a real estate development company that wants to relocate their headquarters to Pittsburg.

The final decision will be made by City Commissioners.  The next City Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at the Beard-Shanks Law Enforcement Center.
