National Donut Day Is As Tasty As It Sounds

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

You still have a few hours remaining in National Donut Day.
Or you can wait 5-months for the other one.
     There are 2 every year.
The first Friday in June...and November 5th.
Both date back to the 1930's.
Donuts - Belgian and potato.
No...wait, those are waffles.
Let's start that over.
Donuts -
Anna Cochrane: "Blueberry Streusel."
Ainsley Balthazor: "Chocolate frosted donut."
That's just two of the countless varieties of donuts you can find worldwide-  or right here in Joplin at Hurts Donut.
On National Donut Day, how many do they sell?
Jordan Weston, Hurts Donut: "5,000 donuts per shift."
Wait, how many?
Weston: "5,000 donuts per shift."
And with three shifts in a day - they're averaging 15,000 donuts - just at the Joplin location.
Weston: "This is our Christmas!  Like, the Black Friday of donuts is National Donut Day for us, it is the busiest day of the year for us."
Anna Cochrane was celebrating National Donut Day -
Cochrane: "My husband mentioned the other day that he hasn't had a donut in about six months, so, i figured what better day than National Donut Day to get him one?"
Anna got her husband a blueberry streusel - then there's Ainsley Balthazor - who, didn't know this was National Donut Day - when she found out, she wasn't complaining.
Balthazor: "I think it's an excellent idea because if you can, you might as well, it's just an excuse to get donuts on sale which is never a bad thing."
If you missed National Donut Day, worry not - donuts are good, anytime of year, holiday or not.
