OKLAHOMA SHOOTING DEATH

  • Investigators says brothers Willie and Waylon Russell entered a home and shot and killed the owner, Dinh Van Hoang.  Willie and Waylon Russell were arrested on potential charges of first degree murder and shooting with intent to kill.  A judge set their bonds at $750,000 each.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS

  • New trail construction kicks off at Pittsburg Community Middle School yesterday.  Additional walking and biking trails are planned for Westside Elementary School, and George Nettles Elementary School, and all three trails are expected to be completed, by the end of the summer.  The total cost of the "safe routes to school" project in Pittsburg, is a little more than $240,000.

MORE MANAFORT CHARGES

  • Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is facing new criminal charges.  Last night, prosecutors working for special counsel Robert Mueller accused him of witness tampering.  They say Manafort tried to contact two people in an effort to influence their testimony in his tax and money laundering case.  Mueller's team asked a judge to revoke or revise the terms of Manafort's bail. 

GUATEMALA VOLCANO

  • Dozens are now confirmed dead in Guatemala following the eruption of Volcano Del Fuego on Sunday.  Officials fear more victims may have been trapped under the steaming-hot ash and mud flows.  The eruption has forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes... Many are now living in shelters outside the nation's capital, Guatemala City.

    The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is working an accident on Highway 66 east of Riverton, Kansas. According to Sheriff Groves, a road construction worker from KDOT was taken to a Joplin hospital with what he believes to be non-life threatening injuries after being electrocuted today (June 22, 2018). Both lanes of traffic are closed while Empire crews make sure the area is safe. The Cherokee County EMS and Galena Fire Department are also on scene. KDOT is working on an ...
