Lack of precip in the air not necessarily a bad thing

Imagine "precipitable water" this way. Draw a circle around you, extend a vertical column some 30,000 feet into the air, then measure all that precip as if it were to fall in our circle as rain. The fact that we were only at 0.7" this morning shows how dry this air mass is over us as shown on the graphics below (the darker the color, the drier the air). Nice thing about the dry is it keeps us from seeing that big difference in temperature compared to what is actually feels like.
