A look at the Tropics on this June 6th, 2018 has a little activity worth watching. In the Atlantic Basin, we don't see any tropical waves in development. Not only that, no organized activity is expected to develop within the next 5 days. Over in the Pacific, it's a bit of a different story. We are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Aletta with the 10 PM advisory indicating wind speeds of 50 mph and slowly moving to the west between 5 and 10 mph. It is forecast to become a hurricane in the next few days, but it should remain over the open Pacific waters. Southeast of Aletta, we're still watching a disorganized wave emerging into the Pacific south of Guatemala. Over the next few days, upper level winds will become more favorable for that wave to become organized. That wave could become a tropical depression as we head into the weekend.
