15 from PSU Earn MIAA Spring Academic Awards

RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fifteen Pittsburg State University student-athletes, representing the sports of baseball, softball and men's and women's outdoor track & field, earned MIAA Academic Awards Thursday (June 7).

Three Gorillas – Christina Metzger and Piper Misse from women's track & field and Levi Wyrick from men's track & field – received the MIAA Academic Excellence Award as well as MIAA Scholar Athlete Honors.

Tyson Roderique (men's track & field) and Quinnlyn Walcott (women's track & field) also garnered the MIAA Academic Excellence Award by maintaining a 4.00 cumulative GPA over at least two terms of attendance at their institution.

Jena Black (wome's track & field), Ian Duncan (men's track & field), Bo Farrow (men's track & field), Kala Holder (softball), Joshua Hudiburg (men's track & field), Katren Rienbolt (women's track & field), Creighton Sanders (men's track & field), Emerson Tice (women's track & field), Kristen Van Hoosen (softball) and Cody White (baseball) also were named MIAA Scholar Athletes by maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA over two terms of attendance or more and receiving All-MIAA honors.

    The Kansas Board of Regents approves Pittsburg State University's proposal to increase tuition for the 2018-19 academic year. With the 2.6% increase, full-time in-state undergraduate students will pay $73 more per semester bringing the total tuition rate to $2,847/semester. Full-time in-state graduate students will see an increase of $84 per semester bringing their total tuition rate to $3,280/semester. PSU says departments across campus are working to tighten spending.
