It's a pool party for the pooches! The Doggy Dive-in is a great way for your pup to get relief from the summer heat. Dogs are invited to take a dip before the Ewert Pool is drained for the summer. Dogs of all different breeds and sizes are welcome to come and practice their dog-paddling. This event is limited to the first 50 dogs and registration opens July 1st at the Joplin Athletic Complex.
August 11th from 4:00pm- 7:00 p.m. at Ewert Family Aquatic Center.
• Dogs: $5
• If you bring in a donation for the Joplin Humane Society, your entry fee is discounted to $3.
• Joplin Dog Park Members: Free
• Humans: Free
• Owners MUST show a copy of their dog's updated shot records at the front desk order to enter the dog swim. (Rabies, Distemper and Parvo Virus)
• Dogs must be on a leash at all times when out of the pool.
• No female dogs in heat
• No puppies under 6 months
• Friendly dogs ONLY; Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave the premises
• Humans will not be allowed in the water with dogs
• Lifeguard on duty, Dogs swim at owners' risk
• No slides or other special attractions will be open
• Owners are responsible for cleaning up accidents

Missouri Southern officials say Nixon Hall is beginning to take shape. Since the groundbreaking in late November 2017, crews from Crossland Construction have completed most of the three-story building's skeleton. Officials revealed the list which includes Broadway musicals, a Johnny Cash Tribute, and extreme juggler, a comedy written especially for children and more. The incident happened after midnight, the morning of July 17th, 2018. The Joplin Police Department says an officer patrolling 8th and Conner saw a male walking west on 8th drinking out of a full-sized vodka bottle. Authorities say the male saw the officer and started walking back where he came from. The officer tried to get the male to stop, but the suspect took off. Joshua Knapp is on trial for first degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Shawn Cook of Iola, Kansas. Today (July 17, 2018) is day two of the murder trial in Allen County.
