On July 9th, 2018, around 9:30 p.m. authorities arrested 46-year-old Sherry L. Kerby of McCune, Kansas on one count of arson of a dwelling, but further investigation led to more charges.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office have been investigating 13 structure fires in McCune over the last three years (Sept. 5, 2015 - July 3, 2018). After Kerby's arrest, further investigation led authorities to charge her with five more counts of arson of a dwelling and one count of aggravated arson of an occupied dwelling.

Kerby was booked into the Crawford County Jail and is being held on a $350,000 bond. The Crawford County Prosecutor's Office has filed formal charges.

Authorities say although Kerby was arrested, the arsons remain under investigation. They're asking anyone with information to contact the Crawford County Sheriff's Office at 620-724-8274, or the Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office at 785-296-3401.
