Carl Junction's Trent Smith Commits to SBU

Updated:

Carl Junction's Trenton Smith is headed to Bolivar, Missouri to continue his basketball career with the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.

Smith was an All-State selection his senior year at Carl Junction, posting 20.3 points per game. He also added 6.6 rebounds per game and shot 47% from three-point range.

"My faith has always been a pretty big factor, and I felt like I could not only grow as a basketball player, but continue to grow my faith as well," Smith says, "I also plan on going into business, and I really like their business program up in Bolivar."

Southwest Baptist is entering its final season in the MIAA. The school announced back in May that it would be leaving the league and accepting an invitation to join the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

While you're here, check out this sweet buzzer beater from Smith to give CJ a 57-54 win over Galena back in December.

Missouri Drivers Rank Among the Worst in New Study

"I don't believe that Missouri drivers as a whole are unsafe drivers in any form or fashion," said Sgt. John Luechenhoff of the Missouri Highway Patrol. The sergeant isn't dismissing a new ranking of states with the worst drivers conducted by financial technology firm SmartAsset, but he feels it doesn't tell the whole story about Missouri.
