2 Arrested for Illegal Drugs in Mail in Pittsburg

On Friday (August 31, 2018) around 1:30 p.m., law enforcement officers of the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Pittsburg, Kansas Police Department served a search warrant at a home at 414 E. Jackson Street. Authorities say the search warrant pertained to the possession of illegal drugs, which had been distributed to Pittsburg using the U.S. Postal Service. During the search, authorities found several items believed to be marijuana and related drug paraphernalia.

A 23-year-old of Pittsburg was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor criminal use of a weapon by a person addicted to controlled substances.

A 19-year-old of Frontenac was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were taken to the Crawford County jail and are being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond each. Formal charges have not been filed.

    Authorities search for a vehicle involved in a high-speed chase through Lamar, Missouri.
