HURRICANE FLORENCE

  • Hurricane Florence continues to bear down on the southeastern United States.  Evacuation orders are now in place along the coasts of the Carolinas.  The storm is expected to bring torrential rain and flooding to communities up and down the eastern seaboard.  Florence could make landfall by Thursday.

DALLAS PROTEST

  • Protesters in Dallas called for murder charges to be filed against a white police officer who shot her neighbor dead in his apartment.  The arrest warrant affidavit was released late yesterday.  It says officer Amber Guyger thought she was inside her own apartment when she mistook Botham Jean for a burglar and opened fire.      Guyger has been charged with manslaughter.

911 CEREMONY

  • President Trump will be in Shanksville, Pennsylvania today to mark the 17th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  The president will speak at the observance ceremony... It's being held at the just-opened Flight 93 national memorial.  It honors the 40 passengers and crew members who died when their hijacked plane crashed there.  They were among the nearly 3-thousand men and women killed on that day.

SARCOXIE SHOOTING

  • The Jasper County Sheriff's office is looking for answers after a man was shot in his backyard in Sarcoxie, Missouri Sunday night.  A little after 10:30pm, Jasper County deputies responded to a call from a house of a man being shot in the arm.  Sheriff Kaiser says the suspect fled after the shooting, and his office is still trying to put together a description.

MISSOURI SPECIAL SESSION

  • For Missouri lawmakers Monday was the beginning of the regularly scheduled veto session, and a special session called by Missouri's governor.  Governor Parson is asking lawmakers to rework two bills he vetoed.  Those bills deal with expanding drug treatment courts and stem education.

    Muriece Scholes, 77, of rural Frontenac, Ks enters a plea deal for shooting a Pittsburg man. The crime happened on June 4th, 2017, near 940 S. 250th Street in Crawford County, Kansas. Dispatch received a call about a man being shot. Deputies responded and found 42-year-old Warren Hill with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Authorities got a warrant and on June 14th, 2017, arrested Scholes for first degree attempted murder for shooting Hill. As part of the plea deal, Scholes will be ...

    A jury finds James Henneha guilty of first degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Tonya Crawford. Closing arguments were delivered this morning (Nov. 15, 2018) and the jury retired at 9:58 a.m. The jury was then seated at 1:28 p.m. and read the following, " WE, THE JURY, FIND THE DEFENDANT JAMES WARREN HENNEHA GUILTY OF MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE AS SUBMITTED IN INSTRUCTION NO. 5."
