HURRICANE FLORENCE

  • Hurricane Florence continues to bear down on the southeastern United States.  Evacuation orders are now in place along the coasts of the Carolinas.  The storm is expected to bring torrential rain and flooding to communities up and down the eastern seaboard.  Florence could make landfall by Thursday.

DALLAS PROTEST

  • Protesters in Dallas called for murder charges to be filed against a white police officer who shot her neighbor dead in his apartment.  The arrest warrant affidavit was released late yesterday.  It says officer Amber Guyger thought she was inside her own apartment when she mistook Botham Jean for a burglar and opened fire.      Guyger has been charged with manslaughter.

911 CEREMONY

  • President Trump will be in Shanksville, Pennsylvania today to mark the 17th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  The president will speak at the observance ceremony... It's being held at the just-opened Flight 93 national memorial.  It honors the 40 passengers and crew members who died when their hijacked plane crashed there.  They were among the nearly 3-thousand men and women killed on that day.

SARCOXIE SHOOTING

  • The Jasper County Sheriff's office is looking for answers after a man was shot in his backyard in Sarcoxie, Missouri Sunday night.  A little after 10:30pm, Jasper County deputies responded to a call from a house of a man being shot in the arm.  Sheriff Kaiser says the suspect fled after the shooting, and his office is still trying to put together a description.

MISSOURI SPECIAL SESSION

  • For Missouri lawmakers Monday was the beginning of the regularly scheduled veto session, and a special session called by Missouri's governor.  Governor Parson is asking lawmakers to rework two bills he vetoed.  Those bills deal with expanding drug treatment courts and stem education.

    Missouri's Attorney General is firing back in court filings, arguing the court should not dismiss a lawsuit filed against the owner of Branson's "Ride the Ducks" attraction. Ripley Entertainment and Branson Duck Vehicles filed motions to dismiss the case or move it federal court. Hawley says those actions are designed to "hamper and delay the state's enforcement action" and to "thwart judicial review of their actions and evade any court order that would bar ...More >>

    Cattle Theft, $5000 Reward in Crawford County, KS

    The Crawford County Sheriff's Office says nearly 30 head of cattle have been stolen from an area farm. On September 22nd, 2018, authorities responded to the area of south 520th Ave (Country Club Rd) and 205th Street about the theft of cattle. The cattle, belonging to Wood Farms, are 600 to 650 lbs, all black in color with some having white faces except one all red steer.
