Harry Potter Fans Unite for First-Ever Wizarding Run

Updated:

Thousands of Harry Potter fans come together for the first ever Wizarding Run held in downtown Joplin.

Dozens of vendors lined main street, featuring all the food, crafts and items fit for a wizard.

Registration for runners cost $50 and included a themed tee-shirt, medal, and, of course, a wand.

The race brought in thousands of dollars for the Ozark Center and Turnaround Ranch.

An organizer of the marathon shares that the event drew in people of all ages from across the nation.

"We've had runners from one, one year old to 90 here from 18 states. From all over the United States, people came to Joplin to run this race," said Toby Teeter with Starlit Running Company.

Organizers say that the Wizard Run is something they plan to do each October.
