FRONTENAC INCENTIVES

  • Beginning October 15th, Frontenac will cover the sewer and water bill for one year, for new business owners and incoming residents.  City officials say the move to boost the local population is all about energizing the local economy with new jobs and new tax revenue.  They also say Frontenac can handle covering the utility bills of new residents, because their tax base will grow.

FAIRFAX TORNADO

  • An Oklahoma town is cleaning up debris after a tornado caused major damage.  The National Weather Service says survey teams found high-end EF-0 tornado damage in Fairfax.  Countless businesses on main street are dealing with shattered glass and sheets of crumpled metal lying along the sidewalk.  Troopers say no one died in the storm but there were several minor injuries reported.

CIVIL WAR LECTURE SERIES

  • A Civil War lecture series at MSSU gets the conversation started about local war history.  The three-part series focuses on little known subjects surrounding the Civil War and brings up talks of building a hands-on learning facility at Rader's Farm Civil War Park.  While the plan is still in its infancy, improvements are being made to the location leading up to building the structure.

JUSTICE BRET KAVANAUGH

  • Brett Kavanaugh takes his seat on the U.S. Supreme Court today.  He was officially sworn in Saturday after a bruising nomination fight.  Last night, Kavanaugh took the oath of office again in a ceremony at the White House.  Kavanaugh told the gathering that he will strive to keep politics out of the court's decisions.

LIMOUSINE CRASH LATEST

  • There's still no word on the cause of the limousine crash that left 20 people dead in upstate New York.  Yesterday, officials said the vehicle failed a state inspection last month and shouldn't have been on the road.  They also said its driver wasn't licensed to operate it, because it was so large that it was classified as a bus.
