Nevada Preps for "Silver Tiger" Game at #1 Lamar

Nevada and Lamar will renew their football rivalry this week. The two teams will meet in the "Silver Tiger" game for the first time in thirteen years on Friday night in Lamar.

Lamar is the #1 team in the state in class 2, heading into Friday's game with a perfect 7-0 record. They haven't lost a game since 2014, and have won each of the last seven Missouri Class 2 State Championships.

Nevada has struggled a bit in their first year in the Big 8 Conference. They're 1-6 right now and have lost three straight heading into Friday's game.

"We've kind of had a bad couple weeks of football here lately," says Nevada head coach Wes Beachler, "Two weeks ago we were playing pretty good football. We just decided to get back to the fundamentals and clean up some of the things that we weren't doing particularly well. We haven't started the same group that started the year since week two. So our kids have done a good job of dealing with injuries and overcoming some of that."

Friday's game will begin at 7 PM in Lamar.
