Bogus 911 Calls - KOAM TV 7

911 is the line reserved for emergencies, but is sometimes clogged up with bogus calls.

"911 is dedicated to those people who have an emergency," says Lt. Brian Lewis of the Joplin Police Department.  "And there's a lot of people who have an emergency that they feel warrants 911, but it really doesn't."

Joplin dispatchers have to take all the calls and they say these non-emergency dials take up time and resources.
